is there a function to "turn on" detailed information on additions or updates to JIRA tickets? Previous version showed the entire new comment; now, I need to go into JIRA to see the update, which takes additional time.
Instead of seeing what is needed in the email , I now have to "view comment"..

It sounds like someone might have turned on HIPAA compliance related settings. Check with you Jira Admin to see if that has happened.
Complementing what John mentioned, this could indeed be the Safe Customer Notifications in action.
